It seems that the swine flu is causing unprecedented amounts of illness in early fall, with 11 more children dying in the past week. News reports quoting other sources share that less vaccines than expected will be ready by the end of the month. Over 80 children who died since the new swine flu arose last spring, 43 of those deaths were reported in September and early October.

We are soon entering into the winter months and the season when the flu hits many people. With the potential of the swine flu adding to the regular flu season we may see a dramatic rise in this situation. The sad part is that children are extremely vulnerable to not only the flu, but the swine flu. Finally, let us continue to intercede for the Samoan Islands, Tonga and Indonesia, all recently devastated by earthquakes.

Depression is crippling. It hinders us from pressing forward, finding victory and becoming all that we are called to be. Usually depression sneaks up on us over periods of time. Many are the afflictions of depression. So what are the root causes of depression. One is sin. Sin is like a wide broad path that leads us into seasons of depression. One doesn't see it coming until it has arrived. Now multiply that depression with a room filled with people that are struggling and that have lost hope. As I'm sure that you are aware of, the flu season will be coming soon. Last year my daughter and wife caught a bad case of the flu. My daughter recovered in around seven days, however my wife ended up in the hospital in ICU. The virus that she caught ended up attacking her heart, damaging her heart mussel and almost took her life. She left the hospital 7 days later with heart failure, a pacemaker and a heart that only functioned at 20%. That was in December of 2008. By June of 2009 her heart was functioning at 33% as some improvement has come forth. Life has changed to say the least. My wife before this illness was in perfect health. Who would have thought.

With the flu season soon to come and fears of a swine flu epidemic. Be wise and take precautions to protect your health and that of your family.

I'm not feeling all that well right this moment. My daughter just disobeyed her mother, not for the first time over a specif issue, but around the 10 in the last couple of hours. I don't like correcting my daughter and that's because she just a child. She's pretty good most the time, yet she does have this stubborn rebellious thing going on lately. So, right now she's standing in the corner. I gave her a whole 3 minutes time out and in the last minute she's asked 5 times if she can get out of the corner.

As her Father, I give her my love, I encourage her, care for her and reward her when she does well. We play together, laugh together, and have lots of fun together. I spend quality time with her teaching her, and just doing some of the things she loves to do. However of lately I'm finding this new role, one that I have yet to walk in or had to walk in. Discipline, correction and sometimes a little tough love.

Our Heavenly Father chastises those whom he loves, He prunes us at times cutting away the bad branches so that we can be more fruitful.

Sometimes life is just not a bowl of cherries. There are times when people can treat you unfairly and be quite rude. There are times when people can out and out treat you with extreme cruelties. It hurts, can lead to frustration and even deeply rooted anger. Sometimes the offenses are so damaging that they affect us for days, weeks, months and even years. Yet the person that inflicted the offences has many times gone on with their life and are rarely affected by what they have done.

Let me encourage you to pull the plug on what they have casted upon you. Let it go. Forgive them and put the matter behind you. In doing so, you set yourself free from the affects of what they have done to you. Rather than living in the situation and allowing it to affect your life and have rule over you. Set yourself free from it by simply extending forgiveness.

My wife is always sharing with me that she feels our pastor is distant and hard to get to know. I tend to agree with her, however, I also know that as the pastor he has a lot on his table. Sometimes we forget that pastors have wives, children, grand children and all sorts of responsibilities. Sometimes we forget that they are human beings just like us and encounter many of the emotions, hardships and difficulties that we all do. Sometimes we see pastors as God when the truth is, there are merely men and sometimes women. It's as if we place them on pedestals as if they are angels of something.

Have you ever ended up with a open wound or cut that was slowly healing? First comes the cut or scrape, then comes the bleeding and as times passes the wound starts to heal and the scab process begins. Sometimes infections set in, we again injure the wound and other times healing comes forth with no complications.

In many ways the above is a perfect picture of heart wounds. Those deep wounds that life, life situations, disappointments, emotional traumas and people can inflict upon us. Many times we inflict the wounds ourselves through sins and the decisions that we make. Many times we re open the very same wounds over and over and over, and no true healing ever comes forth.

Just imagine all the situations, circumstances and even difficult situations that can lead to deeply rooted heart issues. A divorce, the lost of a relative, the loss of a child, the loss of a close friend, condemnation, guilt, childhood problems, being brought up in a dysfunctional family, disapointments, failures and so on. There are many, many, situations and circumstances that can deeply wound a person.

If you have deep wounds that have never healed, let me encourage you to seek Godly counsel through a local church, pastor or deliverance ministry. There are loving, kind, compassionate people within the body of Christ that God has anointed that can truly understand you're situation and help you.

Just imagine if your house was not built on concrete, but rather sand. Things could become very unstable at any given time. A earthquake could occur, or a winter storm. There could be a flood, or even a mudslide. The results could be very bad. Just imagine all the potential possibilities for disaster if your house was built on sand. Now imagine your life being built on sand.

Here are the words of Jesus on the matter. Life changing words that are over 2,000 years old, yet eternal.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. Life should be like a celebration and filled with joy. Yes there are difficult times, hardships and we all encounter those mountains that hinder us and set us back. Regardless, life is wonderful, planet earth is wonderful and being a part of the human race is wonderful. The problem many times is where is that race taking us?

The fast lanes of life. No doubt that if we get on that fast lane of life, we can soon find ourselves burnt out. That freeway offers freedom, yet ends in bondage. Life should be filled with peace, happiness, joy and a overall sense of well being. Jesus spoke of the wide and broad path saying many go therein and it leads to destruction. Jesus also spoke of the straight and narrow, that few find, and that it leads to everlasting life. Which path have you found?

Life can be very demanding. From those daily responsibilities to just getting through the week and sometimes it's as if some one's intentionally throwing things at you. Of course it also depends on your lifestyle and how busy your days are. Some people plan and schedule so many things that they barely have time to eat. It's easy to get so busy with life's demands that there's no time for God.

Let me encourage you to start your day with Jesus. Just by simply awakening and saying "Good Morning Lord". You see Jesus can calm the storms of life, for Christ is the Prince of Peace and the peace of God surpasses all understanding, it quiets the storms and that peace also helps us put things into perspective. It quiets our souls, gives us rest and brings us into still waters.

Is there someone that you've lost contact with? Maybe a old high school friend, maybe a old co worker, maybe a relative or close close family member? We all get busy and the freeway of life just seems to consume our time. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, best friends and people that we've spent time with just seem to fall onto the back burners of our life. Many times we are reminded of those people in thought. We make plans to contact them, but life's freeway once again consumes us. Maybe the Holy Spirit is putting someone on your heart right now. Take time and make that call. You just might put a smile on some one's face.

Remember, we all can make a difference. In our homes, in our communities, with our families, on the job and at every corner. Each one of us has something to add to our world to make it a better place. Take time and make time to make a difference, a positive difference in the lives of others. Be a blessing to others and encourage them with your love and friendship.

Our world needs love. There are countless people all over the world that are hurting, lost, fearful and that have no where to turn to. From the sick, to the hungry, to the poor and homeless, our world is filled with hurting people. We see the faces of them many times on television. The children of the world, the fatherless, the homeless, the orphans, the sick, and yes even those caught up in war zones.

Remember those in need. Remember the children of the world, and those living in 3rd world countries. Remember them in your prayers and remember them in your giving. Together, we can make a difference.

I feel that it's important to see that our children get a not just good education, but a great education. It's important that we help our children prepare for the future and all the demands that will come with that future. I also feel that it's very important that we educate our chidren with regards to morals, righteousness, good and evil. That they might have the wisdom and knowledge to make the right decision and take the right on and off ramps on the freeway of life. That includes a education that starts with reading and understanding the Bible.

Just imagine all the struggling children of the world. The fatherless, the motherless, the orphans, the sick, the abused, the hungry. Those that are surrounded by evil, wickedness, war, death, disease and so the realities of life go.

Reach out and help them. Find a honorable charity or ministry that truly cares and is fruitful and support that organization. Look around your communities and see the needs. You see, we all can make a difference, one life at a time.

The Power Of Humility, Prayer, His Face, Changing Course

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

There everywhere, and yes even at church. The bow-man's.

They stretch their bows out having their arrows ready to shoot always looking for just one person to target. You see it makes up for their losses, and if you look past their pride, arrogance, titles and yes even the braided (slang for rats nest) hair. You'll see their true colors coming thru...

Remedy: Pray for them and give thanks to God. Why you might ask? Well aside from the fact that scripture states that we should pray for such people. If you look even further into the situation you'll probably find that someone has put them up to it.

Ok, we all make mistakes, take the wrong off ramps on the freeway of life, enter the wrong rooms from time to time and the truth is that life is not always a bowl of cherries.

However your tomorrows have yet to be shaped. Don't let your yesterdays and yesteryears dictate your tomorrows and future.

In fact, we can become so busy and sidetracked that we soon forget the joy of life while riding in life's fast lane.

As a family, we normally attend three services each weekend plus other gatherings. This has been a weekly part of our family life for many many years now. However over the last two weeks we have simply stayed at home in a place of rest.

The first week I watched the clock knowing that services were soon to start while encountering memories of services past. However this weekend something different came forth. An abundance of God's peace.

So what is this? Are we forsaking ourselves from the fellowship of believers? No.

We are still gathering, here at home, for where three or more gather in His name, He is in the midst.

2008 is simply past history and 2009 is upon us. Our world is struggling in so many areas, in so many situations and the circumstances, well, they just seem to be intensifying.

Much like watching a hurricane building and creating strong winds. However, there is a eye in the midst of such storms where the air currents are calm.
